$2.5 MILLION GOLF COURSE RENOVATION UNDERWAY
July 28th 2008 - Scottsdale, Arizona – Troon Golf,® the leader in upscale golf course management, development and marketing is pleased to announce that a $2.5 million golf course renovation at Little River Golf & Resort, located in Carthage, N.C., is now underway. The renovation will improve overall course conditions to enhance the guest experience at Little River. Careful consideration has been taken to ensure that play continues while improvements are being made on the course.

Renovations on the 18-hole course, which is currently ranked among North Carolina’s “TOP 100 GOLF COURSES,” began in mid July and will continue in several phases over the next three years. The key focus of the project will be include improvement of turf quality; visibility and improvement of playing areas; and multiple aesthetics improvements. The renovations in the project will include modern shaping, improved drainage and complete sand replacement in bunker complexes. Several tee box complexes will be entirely reshaped and enlarged. Irrigation improvements and selective tree thinning will occur to provide additional light for improved turf coverage and enhance views of the natural beauty and rolling hills of the Sandhill region. Key agronomic programs are also being implemented facility wide based on Troon Golf's world-class standards to further compliment some of the finest putting surfaces in the area.

Little River Golf & Resort is the first US resort purchased by Oceânico Group USA Inc., a subsidiary of Oceânico Group, which is the leading developer of golf and leisure resorts in Portugal, where it is headquartered. The planned development will include various real estate offerings and community amenities, to ensure guests and residents will enjoy one of the most desirable golf course communities in the Sandhills area of North Carolina. The property currently features a 20,000 square foot clubhouse which includes a reception area, full-service restaurant and bar, golf shop, locker rooms, and an outside dining area with wrap-around porches. Little River Golf & Resort also contains 64 two-bedroom condos, available through a rental pool and 8,000 square feet of banquet and conference space.

Little River is set among 630 acres of rolling hills, elevation changes of nearly 200 feet, and tree-lined fairways. Little River was designed by course architect Dan Maples in 1996. Maples was born just miles from the Little River Resort and his personal interest brought a dedication to the project that no other architect could offer.
